Magic cookies?

My "startx" always runs pretty slow -- the console gives MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE
errors at the startup. But now, all my users other than the root itself
can NOT start X at all from that computer. It always said that

Xlib: Invalid MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 key

and then quit with server error.

Does anyone know what is going on here?
