Thought I would mention a little glitch I just ran into. I have been concerned with the heat in my case for a while, so last time I had it open I did some rearraging. Having seen a few articles online about 'rounding' you ide cable I did a less extreme version. I folded my ribbons and taped them up. This opened a lot of room in the case and I'm sure help air flow.
However when I tried to boot off of a linux CD, it would boot, but init would fail to run, spewing DMA errors. This was only a few disks, mandrake's cds didn't have a problem. Incredulousy I unboung the ribbons and everthing was fine. This was suprising to me, although some might tell me I'm stupid.
