Ok well I've done it without X.  I'm using links with svgalib.  This gives a graphical links.  You can build it with SSL support AND javascript support, so that's what I did.  So with this I can access the UT Authentication page and actually *authenticate, despite their plans to foil my attempts with the use of javascript(why I have no idea).  Anyhow, I appreciate yallllls help.  o0o0o I even have a mouse in links :)  elite.  If you wanna do it without X, check out this page http://atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~clock/twibright/links/download.html Ciao, thx again.
