It's going to be interesting to track the outcomes. The big problem with this whole type of funding is that it flitters away money back to the rich and powerful.
Australia actually doesn't actually need more innovation. In fact, if you believe the experts in Europe, we produce too many innovative concepts and what is produced then ends up being sold to larger fish in business too cheaply. Therefore, the benefactors of this funding are more often than not foreign companies.
