These responses are pretty scattered because they are all answering different questions.
- Clickatell is one of the best regarded SMS gateways in the world - I have never heard of Upside and Hoiio but they both look presentable - Twilio is an amazing business for the USA and while they support Australia they havent proven themselves yet - Nexmo i new but has very good pedigree - Inbound (MO) SMS doesn't generate much, if any, revenue for the gateway so is usually an add-on product not the core business. (Derek, yes, but take note of this). - Numbers are easier and cheaper to provision in some countries, such as Australia and USA, but look out for the limitations and regulations - Shortcodes are not relevant for international SMS and are a distraction for every country except the USA. - Patrick, take note of the two comments above. - The cheapest is not always the best; all providers will negotiate on volume - If your volumes are low then go for a provider that will look after you. The difference in expense is marginal compared to the savings in time and energy (TCO) - You can always change providers later if the situation changes - Be prepared to have a second provider on hand for redundancy or to provide coverage in other countries I am glad you are all talking about SMS in this day and age. SMS still rules the world. Yours, A. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Silicon Beach Australia mailing list.
