Agreed, Braintree is better than pin. But while the merchant application 
process can b ridiculous, there are alternatives. We have bnz currencyselect 
which drops 10 or so currencies into nzd accounts at a better rate (its 
actually 1% added to interbank of 1.5% or so), so ~3.5% total once u move it 
out of nzd using ozforex.

This bnz solution is about 1% better than braintree and more currencies and 
flexibility and no hidden fees (chargeback fees etc) 

For aud i recommend bendigo (cheapest by far and easiest to get) with eway, but 
it also requires cvv so u cant make (authorised) follow up payments off a card 
stored on eway. One minor point but an annoying one
