In my day job I work on supporting passkeys as a way to access online
services. Passkeys are designed as an easier and more secure alternative
to passwords. They have been around for a few years now and I hope many
of you have encountered them in the wild.
You can say that. Somewhere I was offered to create a passkey, and I
did. Now I don't remember where it was, and I don't know what happened
to the passkey (if it is somewhere on my PC or...). I had hoped to be
able to access the website/-service easily from my smartphone, but since
I forgot for which website or service (Google?) it was created, this
didn't materialize.
I know passkeys are the better way to access web services, but I don't
know how to handle them (yet). I find it rather confusing. All that may
be due to my age (almost 67 isn't that old, but I have some health
issues which also seem to have an effect on my memory).
For every new thing I do I need to take notes in order to be able to
retrace steps etc., but I didn't do that for the passkey. Hence: I
encountered it in the wild some months or years ago, and lost its trace...
So that is my experience with passkeys. :-)
Regards,
Martin
