I'm planning on working until journey's end. Part of this is that I like working; part is that I love the product that I'm working on (a portable MRI scanner). But it is not entirely up to me - I just had a bypass operation and I think this means that I'm officially getting old :-).
If I retire I think I'll spend more time making things. I keep meaning to learn more about electronics - I can build simple circuits but nothing too complex. I also would love to work on an open source medical device project - I've tried to start more than one but always get overwhelmed by time or material constraints. And I keep wanting to understand what's going wrong with American government - but I don't think I have the skill set to make a contribution here (trying to imagine WWVHD - What Would Vaclav Havel Do? - not sure how to proceed). More time for reading and travel would be great. But at the moment I'm narrowly focussed on family and supporting the development of MRI scanners.
