Yes, but when one analyses the past with the lens of the present, the
past makes lesser sense now than it would have to someone from that
time.
But I am not analyzing the past. I am analyzing the present. Almost
every newspaper and magazine I have come across in India has an
astrology column. There is a difference between "we used to think X"
and "we think X".
There is no doubt that Indian models did an acceptable job of
predicting the world around us back then. There is also no doubt that
Indian models (w.r.t. astrology / astronomy) were more advanced than
other contemporary ones. But that means little today if we continue to
believe it is a pretty good model to explain the world we live in.
