yes, it wasn't quite as simple as i implied :-) try following the instructions here: http://nexsjournal.blogspot.com/2008/05/pulseaudio.html (it includes instructions to start pulseaudio as a daemon in kde; gnome users have to use the gnome-control-center / startup programs for that). -rishab
