Try doing it in ahmedabad. Gujjus there are the sort of swine who refused
to rent to a friend of mine (surnamed Miranda, goan catholic) because 'his
name sounded muslim' (read 'non hindu'). He then had another realtor
approach them, giving them his 'alternative' hindu name, Mohan Prabhu ..
the alternate name being because a lot of goan RCs were saraswat brahmans
several generations back, before being converted by portuguese missionaries

What do you know, that's just the house he ended up renting.

Bangalore is a bit more cosmopolitan than that rathole - you cant get a
beer or a meat meal there.

Wow, those clauses are tough..

I mean, WTF.
I'm veggie, and not a muslim. But I don't think people can directly question you on those two for renting out houses. It's not like they are giving stuff for free.
After all, if a "real" Hindu did it the right way, the "Grah pravesh" would
purify the house of any previous occupants.

WTF.

Subject: Re: [silk] Need some help

I was almost compelled to put out a request here because we are finding
it a problem to find apartments in Jayanagar/Lalbagh area. This is owing
to the condition that only vegetarian tenants are required. While we
don't cook non-veg in our home usually, we do have friends over which
is when non-veg is cooked.
In a few cases, I have even been told that Muslims will not be rented
out apartments.

Hence, I thought it better to spread the word via acquaintances in
addition to searching on craigslist, 99 acres, sulekha, etc. etc.
