I was practising cycling in the traffic Deepa when he called to inform. Was terrified initially but realized later that it would be ok and that either one of us would have an adventure anyway.
This is the second time in my life when I have had a near and dear one caught in a fire. The first time was in Jan 1993 when my dad's factory was set on fire during the riots in Bombay. The fire consumed everything except him. It is after that that our family internalized that even the worst can bring the best. The saying goes in Hindi Aag Ke Baad Baag - after the fire there are beautiful gardens.
