He suffered from intense hypothermia as a result of an unfortunate experiment with liquid nitrogen in his search for propulsion systems for his non-preemptable aircraft, before ultimately settling on mulligatawny soup. Properly spiced, said soup has amazing propulsive properties. As a result of the hypothermia, his skin turned blue.
