Dear Candace, et. al, I use the same generator that Marsha uses and, depending on processing time, I get from 3 to 8 ppm solutions. I've had it for about 10 months now. Processing 350 ml distilled water for an hour with a drop of an electrolyte (baking soda in d. H20) has yielded a little over 8 ppm, tested at a local environmental lab.
The color has *ranged* from colorless to very pale yellow to a rare extreme of bright yellow that over one or two weeks turned greenish violet to black. The only known variables were 1. Not scrubbing off the silver wire each time; 2. Using distilled water at room temperature when room temperature had increased. 3. Perhaps dust particles in the beaker or residual minerals from tap water washing at one time; 4. Build up of silver particles on the beaker over time (suggested by the lab guy). I believe there are several obvious variables that can affect the outcome: water temperature, changing brands of distilled water, use or no use of an electrolyte to foster the process (and how much); use or not use of a bit of colloidal silver to start the process (and how much,) and voltage consistancy. Also, what light exposure your solution gets-- during the process and during storage. I make mine with daylight and/or normal house light exposure, but store it in blue glass bottles within minutes of processing it, and how long you store it. With the battery method (3 9 volt batteries) eventually batteries will weaken. My system differs only in that I use a 24 V AC to DC converter so I can use normal house electricity, but even that can vary. Also, I seldom see the light lit; usually that's if the wires slipped from being 1/2" apart and are touching each other or if bridging has occured, completing the circuit. So it seems to have the most consistent solution, you need a device with a current or volt regulator of some sort, and a very consistent method, or the means to testing each batch and diluting accordingly to attain the same ppm. Considering that I'm making such a low ppm solution, I am not concerned if one day the solution may be 4.7 ppm; another day, 8.9 ppm. The bottom line is that I'm not selling it or storing it long term, and what I'm making is improving my health with no apparent side effects. And I'm not consuming more than 1/4 a cup a day maximum. I can not prove this, but I agree with Aimal that the yellow color is *likely* from oxidation because my "best, golden" solutions started out clear to very pale yellow, only lasted about a week; they gradually turned black, suggesting that oxidation was in the works. I'm most satisfied with clear to pale yellow solutions; they've never gone black on me. I really think you have to look at the big picture; no matter what device you use or who it's for, it's a good idea to run a baseline test. Your observation of color and clarity can give you a rough idea of whether you should keep or throw out a batch, but without testing particle size (& parts per million if you choose to), and more than once, especially if there are variables such as temperature of water, voltage, or amt. of starter electrolyte, what you've got is pure speculation, not scientific data. There are always variables, however subtle. If I was using a commercial quality device, I'd still want to run some baseline tests (on occasion, especially if it was producing high ppm solutions and an unknown particle size range) to be sure of what I was producing, even more often if I were selling the solution. Voltage can vary; tolerances of regulators could be wide (unless they're approved for a nuclear power plant or something!) But since it's just for my own use, a device such as the one Marsha uses is adequate for me. I never make very strong solutions, so I am not concerned about consuming too much. BTW, Lawrence Nowell is an MLM mild silver protein salesman who apparently remarkably recovered from Lyme disease thanks to the product he now endorses. He apparently is a list member, as he has contributed here from time to time. He as also posted on various newsgroups; that's how I first "met" him. His testimony of how silver helped him recover was very encouraging to me. A search in http://dejanews.com/ with his name and "silver" will likely provide you with some of his writings and a link to his site. This is not an advertisement; just an answer to your question. The only product other than my own that I used was Futurebiotics CS (out of VT), at about $20/4 oz. That was all I could afford, and though touted by MLMs as inferior, it started my healing to the point that I knew I ought to make my own and continue taking CS. ***I've noticed that generally, this list has been cold toward salespeople who promote their products in their posts. I think there are many passive people on this list just to learn more about colloidal silver & silver solutions. They need to know the difference between true electrocolloidal silver solutions and protein silvers and silver compounds. That'd make another post... Most active posters seem to want to produce an inexpensive solution for personal use without the expense of a commercial product. No wonder. You can save hundreds of dollars. However, with commercial products, you should be getting "what you pay for": consistency in the product (all that expensive testing) and the cost of overhead. Anybody working for someone else ought to understand that; overhead is expensive. I'm not a business woman, but I heard that profit should be in the neighborhood of 50% the cost. Remember, not everyone is inclined to make their own silver. Some people don't even know how to boil an egg, so MLMs have their place. I'm glad this is not an advertising list; I'm here for scientific info and to hear people's stories of how silver helps them. But I haven't noticed any objection to a link to an ad in people's signatures. I guess I don't like flaming. I like to see people settle their differences peacably. That's what you get growing up with 3 sisters. Now I have 4 boys. What a job it has been, teaching them to "live in harmony!" ("How pleasant it is when brethren dwell together in unity.") I don't think that's unreasonable. Just my thoughts... Non-commercial Nancy [email protected] wrote: > > Hello Scott & Amail, > > ... > I was wondering if you could fill me in on who Lawrence is?
