Greetings wonderful CSers,
Was reading the post by Jana Shiloh on 13 Feb. 1999 16:54:57
She reposted something that was sent to her.
The post claims the Gov. is trying to reduce the population by
spreading poison via jet aircraft by putting an additive in the fuel
that will kill us. Bah-Bah and Bah.
The post claimed that people were saving themselfs by taking SILVER
COMPOUNDS. Beware that there are those who will try to connect CS to
their beliefs to make it more believable. They of course don`t care if
we are viewed in a bad light.
Lets look at ethylene dibromine.
Of course we see that this is ethylene and dibromine compounded
together. Each is very useful alone, and useful together.
Ethylene (C2H4) is the most important member of a series of
hydrocarbons known as the ethylene series. It is an unsaturated
compound. That means in can share a bond with additional hydrogen atoms.
We learned that when we studied unsaturated fats in the Intestine
Series.
Ethylene is valuable in ripening fruits (apples, oranges, bananas)
which are picked before ripe (green) for shipping. They are treated with
the ethylene gas to give them a natural color and flavor as if they were
ripe.
Ethylene is also used as an anesthesia. It is mixed with oxygen which
assists the patient. It produces anesthesia more quickly that ether and
recovery is more rapid.
Ethylene was also mixed with dichlorodiethyl sulfide to make mustard
gas in WW ONE ((C2H4Cl)2S). Like most things ,it can be used for good or
bad.
Bromine (Br2) is in the Halogen family of elements. It is not a metal.
Halogens are good oxidizing agents, and bromine is no exception.
Several bromides are found in nature, particularly those of sodium and
magnesium. However the demand for bromine is so great, most of it is
taken from sea water. In sea water the bromine ions are 60 to 70 parts
per million. However the oceans are large and contain large quantities
of bromine. The content, although small can be recovered with a
profitable result.
Bromine is a dark red liquid (reddish-brown)with a sharp ,choking
odor. It evaporates readily, forming a vapor which is very irritating to
the eyes and throat. It is used in making tear gas. It is moderately
soluble in water. It must be handled with great care. It will burn the
flesh and produce slow healing wounds. Bromine is used as an oxidizing
agent in industry, in dyes, and analytical operations. Its most
important use is in the preparation of Ethylene Dibromide.
Ethylene Dibromide is used in anti-knock compounds in fuels, mostly
automobile, boat and aircraft fuels.
The anti-knock qualities of gasoline are improved by the addition of
small amounts of *tetraethyl lead* (Pb(C2H5)4) compound. This is added
at 0.001% of the fuel. However this will lead up the engine in a short
time. To eliminate the lead from the engine the *ethylene dibromide* is
added. Now the fuel is called ethyl gasoline. It catalysis the lead into
lead bromide which is blown out the exhaust, not staying in the engine
to foul it up. The ethylene dibromide is added at 2 ml to a gallon.
With the modern demand to remove lead from the environment, lead is
not added to gasoline fuels. The ethylene didromide is still added to
give ethyl gasoline and act as a dye.
It is used to dye diesel fuel for taxing purposes. Don`t get caught
with purple diesel fuel in your car. Its for big rigs and boats which
are taxed at a different rate.
It is used as a dye in jet fuel, to insure the proper grade of fuel is
in the aircraft. Jet engines don`t run too well on the wrong grade of
fuel. Each grade of jet and aircraft fuel has a different color.
As we can see, ethylene dibromide has been around a long time, since
the early 1920`s.
I don`t think the Goverment is out to kill us. Our modern society
would have a hard time functioning with out it.
Bless you Bob Lee
