There's also gaze avesion.
  This is probably far afield.
  But it is a symptom of autism and some forms of truama.
  The eye lids droop and eventually shut.
  You appear to be sleeping.
  But you're not. You're focusing.
  Autistic people get overwelmed with interaction sometimes.
  They lack the screens to take out stimuli, as a result they get over 
stimulated.
  By closing the eyes they limit imput.
  This helps with focus. It is functional. Though annoying.
