I got the silver wire online from http://www.wires.co.uk/acatalog/si_bare.html#aSI0500_2d010. I use 3 ordinary duracell PP3 batteries clipped to each other and wires with alligator clips at each end to attach the negative and positve to the wires which are suspended through a piece of sponge into a glass of distilled water.
