I have forever heard it the other way around: take twice the calcium as
magnesium. This is the first time I have ever heard it differently. Faith G

Most people seem to recommend half calcium to magnesium as I have read
it. Dee

        Gail ,
1000 each calcium and magnesium is not how I read it.Here's what I saw:
        Natures Bounty Coral Calcium-1000 Mg/Puritan Pride-Chelated Calcium
Magnesium Zinc-1000Mg.

Since the Puritan's Pride lists Calcium first it is probably equal to
or more than the Magnesium. Most supplements have cal/mag at 2/1 so this looked
like a total of 2000 mg calcium to 500 mg magnesium.

Anyway this looks like 4 to 1 and the old rule was 2 to 1. Now you see
more recommendations for 1 to 1 or 1 to 2. I think that the exact amount and
ratio depends on many variables such as how much dairy you consume, your
vitamin d levels, what foods you regularly take in like green veggies, whether
you take HCL with your foods, etc.

All that being said, 2000 mg calcium is way too much calcium to be
taking, especially for someone with hypothyroid/fibromyalgia symptoms.
