Umm, Richard, what did you mean by "there's nothing in the tank?" Aren't you making your product directly in the tank of the machine? An ultrasonic cleaner does need to be full to the minimum operating line with *some* kind of liquid if it's not to damage itself. Running it empty or low is not good. Peace, Mike D.
