Middle age, I rather think these days starts @ 40 and is related to menopause, men never reach middle age, they lurch from childhood to second childhood and disguise it skillfully with many strong tactics displayed from teens to whenever they decline into what is conveniently called dementia. There is a song about it involving "knobbly knees". Women often love them anyway, being mothers at heart.
