Your reply to Tia is misleading and > ridiculous. These are the same type results I get. This will not produce silver crystals or flakes on the water > surface. How about it techies what do you say? I'm definately NOT a techie, wish I was, then maybe I could make a generator polarity switching so as not to get the build up on the negative electrode when I don't watch my CS brew as closely as I should...especially towards the end of the cycle. I use the same 27 VDC (3 9-volt batteries) setup as probably many of us do. I use a pint canning jar everey time I make a batch. I usually let it go for about an hour at first and then take the electrodes out and wipe/rinse them off and put them back in after I stir the batch. (One of those little stirrers would be nice to alleviate having to do this.) Then after about 30-45 min. I do the same thing again. From here on out it must be done about every 15-20 min. or there will be a black build up on the negative electrode that just grow thicker the longer it stays in the solution. If I let this go too long, there will be silver flakes on top of the CS around the neg. elec. The longer it stays in w/o being wiped off the more exagerated the condition. If I were to leave it unattended overnight as Fred said I would have a really disgusting looking mess with much silver flakes, a 'trail' of black falling from the neg. elec. to the bottom of the jar and on the pos. elec. there would be this grayish, mush looking stuff built up on the electrode and beginning to 'trail' down to the bottom of the jar. (This was learned by forgetting about a batch I was making one night...remembered it the next morning. Had to pitch it out.) Oh well, I called that one a learning experience. Hope this helped some. These are just my observations from my own experience. The only problems come as a direct result of "my own inattentiveness". We can all (inexperienced and techie alike) learn from this medium if we seek to do so with the understanding that we all have differing methods, variables, etc. But we can all still make a 'good product'. Happy CS'ing to all. W.T.
