Wrong, several studies show that silver ions are effective against pathogens. Just search for "silver ions + bacteria or pathogens or virus" at pubmed and you all can see that there are many, many studies that show that it works and is even better than silver particles. The fact that ions rip apart the cell wall of the bacteria (among other things) is what explains its effectiveness.
