I have used CS in to store plastic disposable contacts in and also
sprayed directly into the eyes whilst wearing them.

I found the latter tended to dehydrate my eyes, and the former changed
the texture of the lenses, making them floppy and slimy feeling. Gave
the CS a miss, and the contacts followed soon after.

The CS probably bonds with the proteins that accumulate on the lenses.
