When I was a kid growing up in Utah, we had an apricot tree. We saved every
pit, put them into a big paper bag, and dried them for about a year. Us kids
got to shell them, and the nuts were saved away. The previous year's pits
were used by my mom in making apricot-pineapple conserve, in which she put
the whole kernel of the nut, six or eight in each jar. We used to think that
getting a nut in our jam meant we got a prize. They were very tasty, like
small, round almonds. (They belong to the same family, I think)

I remember the FDA scare about the apricot pits and the "unfortunate couple"
who "poisoned" themselves, and remember wondering just what kind of apricots
they had gotten their pits from, since we had eaten the pits all our lives
with no problem.

Also, just thought I would tell you about my experience with CS this last
month. I had a "bug bite" on my forehead that just kept getting worse, and
never went away but got so painful I thought it was a spider bite. Then it
spread, so I thought it might be psoriasis. The next thing I knew, I had an
excruciating inflammation in my left eye. It was a Saturday, so I couldn't
make an appointment at the eye doctor's until Monday, by which time the eye
was even worse. The pain was agonizing--extremely high-intensity and
constant. I was diagnosed with a corneal ulcer, and she prescribed some
steroids and antibiotics.

Heather, my daughter, who is also on this list, suggested CS. My response
was that I knew it would work, but it burned like fire in the eyes. She
responded with "it's the distilled water. Dilute it in pure saline, and it
should be ok." Once I started using the CS, the pain went away quickly, and
the inflammation began to subside right away. I was going in every day to
have the ulcer checked, but after I started using the CS, the doctor
couldn't believe how quickly the ulcer was healing. (I never told her I was
not using her prescriptions, just my own CS mixture!) Just as I was about to
get a clean bill of health on the left eye, the right eye flared up with its
own ulcer. Of course, I used CS exclusively in the eye, and stopped the
ulcer in its tracks.

It turns out that the "bug bite" and the corneal ulcers are related.
Shingles is the name of the game. The rash spread over most of the left
side of my forehead, but I took large doses of CS every day and got
resolution on the disease in about ten days. Today my eyes are 100% clear
of any problems, the rash is gone, and no more have appeared anywhere else.

Shingles, I learned from the Merck Manual site,
http://www.merck.com/pubs/mmanual/sections.htm are a flareup of herpes
varicella zoster, left over from childhood chickenpox, which has lain
dormant near the spinal cord for years. The most vulnerable are people in
late middle years, although is it possible to get it earlier. The older you
are, the better your chances to have a flareup. You cannot "catch" shingles
from someone else who has them, but if you have never had CHICKENPOX, you
can catch THAT from close contact with someone with shingles. Most flareups
appear on the trunk, but occasionally they appear on the face. If they
involve the eye, a corneal ulcer is almost certain to result.

A tip: Antibiotics and steroids (cortisone) are useless against shingles,
so don't let any doctor try to talk you into taking them. Take the
prescription slip and put it in the trash. The medications are expensive
and useless. Save your money, and go straight to the CS. You'll get better
faster, too.
