That statement is not true.  Many virii/bacteria are anaerobic. What happens
is that the silver 'suffocates' the bacteria by electrically attaching
itself to the outside and preventing it from replicating through electrical
interference. Silver has also been detected within the bacteria, on the DNA.
Your system eventually filters it out and it is purged.
