I don't think you can corrolate viscosity with index of refraction.  With
what you saw, there had to have been a difference in index of refraction,
but it does not follow that the viscosity must be different.  Do you have
any way to measure the index of refraction?  I wonder if the zeta potential
influences this?

I believe that the two are not related, but apparently do both change when
you make colloid.
