I don't trust dandelion roots grown in the city myself.  I acquire mine
through an herb store that carries roots.  Sometimes with leaves, one must a
bit more concerned about "freshness" but roots tend to last.  There are also
a host of online vendors that sell bulk herbs.

Dandelion tea doesn't even taste that bad!  ( some of the herbal
conconctions for serious illness taste like they could be used for rocket
fuel! )
