Christy,

I will relate an experience I had that may (or may not) answer your question. In a town near me is a very old jail that has been turned into a museum. In the part devoted to the sheriff's housing, black mold had covered a ceiling. It was not a blown ceiling but a painted one. The local historical society, of which I am a member, was very concerned because we were conducting tours and exposing everyone to the mold. The concern was that we might be sued. The projected cost to "remediate" the mold was far above what we could afford. I suggested we use CS. They asked the cost and, when I told them I would furnish the CS at no cost and put it on, they were, to say the least, very skeptical. Finally, someone said: "What do we have to lose?". To make a long story short, I sprayed CS on the ceiling, wiped it off, and then sprayed another light coat with the idea that, after the water evaporated, the silver would still be there to try to prevent the mold from reappearing. That was the summer of 2001 and, as of today, there is no mold. The ceiling is white and looks as if the paint was just put on. I don't know if this will help you but I sincerely hope so. Good luck.

We are doing some home remodeling. After tearing wallpaper off of a
sheetrocked soffets near the ceiling in our kitchen, we discovered large
areas of black mold growing behind the wallpaper, undoubtedly resulting from
an upstairs bathroom leak around a bathtub drain years ago. I am concerned
about the health threat posed by this mold as I have read some nationally
published articles on homes becoming downright toxic because of interior mold.

My question: Will spraying these moldy areas with colloidal silver kill the
mold which is growing there?
