L Lysine is Lysine. The L stands for "Left". There is also a R Lysine molecule. The L and R refer to what is called handedness. That is the molecule can be in two different forms, one a mirror image of the other. The handedness is determined by shining a polarized light through a solution of the substance, and checking if the polarization is rotated left or right. An interesting note is that all biological entities on earth are left handed, and can generally only use left handed substances. Thus R lysine would most likely be totally ineffective. Some substances made chemically are a mixture of the two, so lysine without the "L" could be a mixture of both L and R handedness reducing it's effectiveness. Natural substances should be 100% L handedness. Marshall -- The silver-list is a moderated forum for discussion of colloidal silver.
