Hi Trem.
In ACRES USA--a radical farm magazine dedicated to environmental ecology and
holistic health of both humans and livestock--there are often articles on how to
holistically administer to your livestock.

One thing I remember from an article of about two years ago is that you should
NEVER give CS internally to ruminants (ie, sheep and cows) who depend heavily on
gut bacteria to digest their food. That is, of course, because CS destroys all
bacteria whether it's harmful or beneficial. In lieu of orally administered CS,
some farmers inject a mild solution of hydrogen peroxide into the bloodstream.

I would imagine that any oxygenating product could be helpful.

Perhaps your friend might want to get in touch with the ACRES USA office at
1-800-355-5313. There are a number of holistic farm vets who regularly
contribute to the newspaper and this would be a good resource for your friend.

Regards,
Nenah
