Expose a white paper towel to the mist till it is saturated, then let it dry. If the towel turns brownish upon drying, silver ions are in the mist. If the CS is very strong, the towel will turn very brown. This doesn't tell you if particles are making it through, but most home made CS is mostly ionic.
