Try www.acresusa.com for info on finding sources, resources and info on keeping your soil vital and alive. This is a eco-ag newspaper and they offer books and other resources including the Albrecht Papers on soil management. Granite dust, such as Hybrotite and NewJersey Greensand are good mineral sources and so is Kelp Meal.Rock dusts from stone quarrys is good start. The best granites are ones with feldspar streaking through the parent material.Miloranite clay and clays that were formed from igneous materials are also good mineralizers.Colloids and organic matter are the only things that hold the minerals in the soil.Colloids as in clay.

Does anyone have info on what constitutes good soil management. What kind
of organic material is needed to keep our soil healthy? I have considered
replacing the soil in my garden with soil from the mountains around here.
We still have land that has never been worked by man at all. But any
suggestions, especially based on research would be appreciated. In
particular for trace minerals.

Within the last 6 months there were 2
TV programs about the damage to South
American forests by people moving into the
forest -- cutting and burning the trees --to create
farming space, only to find that within a year
or 2 they had to repeat the process because the
soil had lacked needed nutrients to support crops.
