Tanglefoot is a sticky substance that comes in 1LB.tubs and in caulkinggun type cartridges.Try garden shops or mail order from garde supply Co. that carries 'natural' and or 'organic' supplies.

Tanglefoot (last I saw) ---2 formulations a natural goo and a goo more like glue rat traps.

If the borer beetles are coming up from debree and or the soil---yes,tanglefoot would stop them.If the beetles are flying in then---No.

Borers and other insects and the like are usually attacking stessed-out trees.Stress is caused by environmental problems which may include flowering of tree in balance(or lack thereof)of nutrition. When a tree is budding it can be foliar fed seaweed and fish emulsion prior to full development of the bud. This goes a long way to preventing strss at bloom.Removing debree fom an area of at least 2 feet from the trunk.Never drive tractors, trucks or cars anywhere near the drip zone under the trees.Never mulch within 2 feet of the trunk of the trees.Fertillize with a natural fertillizer that the first number is lower than the 2nd and 3rd numbers in the primary formula.N-P-K.----Holland

Would this prevent borers from killing my young trees? MA (P.S. What is *tanglefoot*?)
