Greetings John, I'm glad to see you resolved your subscription issues and can post now. Thank you for bringing wee Ralph's situation to our attention.
A few general comments may help: One truism of alternative medicine is to always question *everything* told to you by *both* your conventional advisors and alternative sources. Thus, people here are going to wonder if some part of Ralph's problems may actually be allergic or toxic reactions to environmental elements, such as laundry detergent residue on bedding and clothing, food allergies, new carpeting in the house or mould under the sink somewhere? Just as you learned from the strep vs. herpes matter, one must question every diagnosis -- as in did the doctors get it right? -- the actual medical definition of the malady -- genetic, environmental or infectous? -- and every treatment recommendation -- antibiotics or CS? Steroids? Vaccinations? ... and so on. The same skepticism of course must apply to all alternatives as well, though one seldom has to remind people of that! <grin> One warning I would give you for future reference, is to start with an extremely small amount of CS, such as a drop or two on the tongue, and allow an hour or two to see if any serious reaction is going to take place. Then ramp the dose up slowly while observing closely. This will help protect you from the rare possibility of an allergic reaction to silver, or a severe Herxheimer reaction. Most of us have found CS useful as both a therapeutic and prophylactic anti-microbial. Many who routinely take a few ounces (or more) daily report going for months and years without getting sick, or having the occasional virus resolve quickly without secondary infections. I would imagine that, once Ralph is well enough to be home again, you can give him CS daily as a support to his own immune system and hope to prevent further outbreaks of infection. People also report good results using CS topically and as a surface disinfectant. A bacterial infection such as strep is more likely to be helped by CS. The performance of CS on viruses is less certain than for bacteria. Dosing recommendations are highly variable, John. There are few sensible guidelines. I've heard everything from teaspoonsful to quarts being used successfully by adults. Certainly I'd be willing to give my child a couple of ounces daily of pure 5 to 15 ppm electrolytically made CS as a preventative, and more if needed. Very large doses of CS apparently can disrupt friendly flora, just as antibiotics can do. This is another thing to watch out for. You can use yogurt or other probiotics to help repopulate the gut. Ultimately, dosing does not seem to be critical, within broad limits. If you're making your own CS using any of the simple generator designs or commercial units, using distilled water and no additives, then at least you know what's in the preparation you're using. Commercial CS products range from poor to excellent, from safely made by electrolysis to chemical precipitates and protien stabilized suspensions, and even plain water. <sigh> Congratulations on not having him immunized. Never let a dentist near him with mercury/silver amalgam fillings either!! I wish you all well, sir.
