It's the latter I'm thinking of. I would get a simple cold, but before it was over I would always end up with full blown strep or bronchitis from a bacterial source, requiring a full cycle of antibiotics and usually several weeks to recuperate fully. I still have other problems these days, but I generally do *not* have nasty bacterial upper respiratory infections any more! If I do catch a virus it *stays* a virus, and usually takes the minimum time to pass. > I'm asking because my 83-year-old Mom -- who takes a small amount > of CS pretty much daily -- can seem to have a virus knocked out, and > then a couple days later, she's sick again. MA Doctors always prescribe enough antibiotics to more than knock out the bug and tell you to keep taking them 'til they run out. That's exactly why, I suppose, to prevent a rebound. As for viruses, it could be she's quitting the CS as soon as she thinks she's better but before they're completely gone. Be well, Mike D.
