The use of a multimeter raises a long-standing issue. Should we measure conductance (in units of microsiemens, uS) or conductivity (in units of microsiemens per centimeter, uS/cm)? The probes' spacing and length must be known and fixed if we want to relate conductance and conductivity by a proportionality.
