Jonathan,
Your account reminded me of another product: massage sandals!
They are medium hard(soft) rubber and every single inch of the sole is
covered with symmetrically placed rubber "fingers." They, too, are hard to
walk on initially, but over time one gets used to it. I would think that
these would be good as well.
The brand I wear is Kangaroo. They were hard to find.

Subject: Re: CS>foot pads/insoles
Hi,
Not much to say, really, except that these are much better than the usual
soft, rubbery type.
The Korean insoles are hard, clear plastic. They work well to break down
the hard deposits in the soles of the feet -- whatever exactly these are,
I frankly do not know, but their breakdown corresponds with a greatly
enhanced feeling of overall health.
The insoles also serve to break down calloused skin over the whole foot,
including the toes. Given that the foot has many organ representation
points, the insoles are a very effective way of influencing organs
throughout the body.
These are probably available online somewhere.
The directions recommend no more than two hours of use per day; initial
use can be very painful, and you will quickly become aware of areas of
high sensitivity. After time you might be able to wear them longer. I
sometimes use them all day, even on long walks.
In Japan these sell for less than one dollar per pair and last for a long,
long time.
