Silver nitrate is very soluble in water.  Upon contact with copper, the
copper will replace the silver in the compound, putting a pure silver
coating on the copper, and producing copper nitrate in the solution,
which is also very soluble.

Flushing the pipes for 10 seconds would remove all traces of any silver
nitrate that was not drained out of the pipe after the plating.

You can obtain it from a chemical supply house. It is somewhat caustic,
and can stain the skin if you contact it.
