Most of them have a *staining* of plated silver
somewhere on the inside of them.  This cannot be
removed.  Are you saying, then, that this plating will
interfere with the processing of the CS?  If so, then
I need to throw them away and start with new jars.

No, you can scrub off the staining with a plastic pot
scrubber. Another way is to fill the jars with tap
water and pour some hydrogen peroxide in the water and
let it sit. The silver staining will completely
dissolve.

And no, the stain doesn't interfere with anything. If
it gets as dark as coffee, it might be a problem, but
you simply clean it off before then.
