hello gurus,

I intend to implement a transaction protocol using SimFlex and I wonder if
there is any special resources, particularly about simflex, that I can take a
look at....
thanks

Irene,

I suggest you begin by reviewing the SimFlex Tutorial slides available on
the simflex web site:
   http://www.ece.cmu.edu/~simflex

The direct link to the slides is here:
   http://www.ece.cmu.edu/~simflex/software/SimFlex-tutorial.pdf

Hope that helps.

Subject: [Simflex] DSM simulation?
Message-ID: <[email protected]>

Hi,

I'm wondering if Flexus supports CMP+DSM simulation.
Based on the document, there are two models:
CMP and DSM derived from Piranha.

Can I simulate a system with both of them?
How fast is it going to be if my target system has
128 processors, is it doable?

Thanks much,
Fengguang

Hi Fengguang,

In the past we run a DSM of CMPs without timing (TraceDSMCMPFlex) with
up to 64 nodes. We can run 128 nodes in Flexus provided that Simics
supports it. However, currently we do not support a DSM of CMPs in
timing mode.

Now, simulating 128 nodes (even without timing) will be very slow,
around 10 KIPS (kilo-instrutions per sec).

Subject: [Simflex] flexus test application problem.
Message-ID: <001901c770b2$4eb4cd70$d3828...@darrell>

Hello Thomas and people,

I have already run simulations for flexus-test-app of Flexus and got the
statistics which looked great. Lately when I try to prepare the test
application (by running ./prepare-test-app) I get the following error messages
and system stalls.

messages I get are:

Prompt reached
[cpu0] v:0x00000000100424b0 p:0x0000000002c424b0 sethi %hi(0x1041fc00), %g2
 mount /dev/dsk/c0t1d0s0 /mnt; cd /mnt/src; ./filter_v9
../inputs/filter.blur3x3 1 < ../inputs/calcm.ppm > ../inputs/calcm.out.ppm

../inputs/calcm.ppm: cannot open
# Jun 2 07:21:58 sarek.network.sim snmpXdmid: Unable to connect to snmpdx

sorry to disturb for such a thing but I really can't find what goes wrong.

thanks in advance.
