Thanks.  I created an issue (11) for this, suggesting respecting the

bandInfos[1].syncWith = 0;

setting for mouse-wheel zoom.

The system marked it as a Defect; I meant it as an Enhancement, but I  
can't see a way to change that; didn't mean to imply it was a Defect :)
