I wanted to see the debug output so I retried to scan something with the lock button on and Simple Scan has worked properly.
I do not know what is append the last time but currently there is none problem. So it is possible that simple scan has not verify the lock button. It could damage the scanner. I tried the same experience with xsane, there was none strange noise and it scan just a blank page. It is the same comportment on Windows with the Canon's software.
