The only reason this seems to be a dilemma and difficult is that believing and convincing belief is employed as though such agreements equate to ultimate truth, which they do not.
I see believing and knowing as two very different things. To believe is to conclude with the limited mind and such conclusions are based on illusion and are therefore false. And so the knowing of Truth has nothing to do with believing. I 'believe' that's what you said.

However, I believe belief does have a 'function' outside of Truth itself, in that it may lead to willingness.

The issue of doubt only arises in belief, and one goes 'round and 'round, deciding which beliefs to believe and to include in the mental structure they are erecting to call truth. But ultimate truth...that which resists not reality's whole report...is not the product of such judgments of decision-making processes. You are quite correct in assessing that ignoring doubt (or, also ignoring the illusory world's imminent warnings) is inadequate; however, that it is unable to "convince" is irrelevant except in terms of the mental structure of beliefs (or belief system).
Yes, not an issue of belief, disbelief, doubt or convincing. Mayhaps it is an issue of denial?

The reality of self (of all) always convinces those who look upon it with the same wholeness its report requires in order to be seen as it is. Divided attention steps outside the requirement that the substance of the reality of love (faithful beingness), and thus binds vision to leftovers whose core of wholeness is missing, and which therefore can never reveal reality.

I see. So, Reality is never perceived except in it's entirety. This is why, up until the moment of realization, all perceived truth is false. There can be no mixture of truth and Truth.

Looking at reality has not failed to produce "results" but is entirely unrelated to results. All results are in time, and are mental inventions akin to belief, and reality is not a result.

Yes, looking for reality where it is, is the most wise policy

Why would this be a wise policy? Because of it's likelihood of leading to a particular result?

however, there is nothing such as "within" in order to look there. To look within is to narrow focus to a defined scope opposite to "without"...and neither exist. Narrowing of vision is denial of whole vision, and thus we find all the methods involving focus to be delay tactics of denial that would prevent whole vision while masquerading as saviors.

To 'look within' is, of course, a metaphor. It's not expected that one would cut one's self open and examine the various organs. (Don't try this at home, folks) And so, mayhaps there's not the implication of the restriction of focus in any way, either physical or mental, although it's a good reminder that it's not about 'not-looking' or restricting vision but rather expanding it beyond it's present restrictions.

Actually, I'm not liking the 'looking within' metaphor so much now and maybe I'll stop thinking of it in that way. Hmmm....

:)  Thanks again for the walk around the block. The DOuG likes it.

It's nice to go for walks with you again, DOuG, but you really need to stop peeing on the neighbor's rose bushes. Besides, you could hurt yourself............ Just sumthin to think about.
