Isn't any diff. I just prefer to stay away from the popular terms pairs that suggest little self, big Self, etc., as though illusion were one thing and reality another. While illusion isn't real, because it isn't a separate reality to itself as it seems, still the faculty of perception is integral to reality. Perception then, is the erection of time-sequential separation images as a counterfeit overlay that blocks vision with its substitutes (thoughts {plural}, feelings {plural}, images {plural}, structured concept arrays {plural}, and so on). Thus is knowing knowledge, feeling joy of peace, seeing reality of self as it is...perceptually converted to thinking thoughts, feeling feelings (both seemingly physiological and emotional), and perceiving images (both physical and mental). This multiplex of conversion lends certain underlying agreements of denial such as separateness or plurality, potential or possibility (including impossibility), lack or void, restoration or healing/forgiveness, etc., and the intricate web weaving of these object components as trains of thought, belief systems, self-image (along with false self-esteem), world views, levels and dimensions of experience, and limited bodies with their framework of time/space/energy/matter.

"Illusions facilitate alignment" is of great interest to me because it, along with the effort you're expending to 'speak', imply that there is effective, and not so effective, facilitation. We would like to move toward the effective one, yes?
Yes, however that poses but another oddity. Whether one follows the spectrum toward what logically seems more effective, or whether one follows a direction that seems opposed to that direction, the same alignment presents itself. What is odd about it is...that it is often the opposite direction one travels that pushes the mind toward willingness allowing openness toward alignment, rather than actively seeking a positive and effective stance, that facilitates the alignment. So it may seem important that one follows what seems effective, but illusions' function as an adjunct toward alignment works toward restoration regardless of the choices we make along the way it proposes. I.E.-The holy spirit uses whatever choices we make (although not literally...just seems that way)...which is really to say that the capability of illusion which is integral to the reality of the holy spirit presents what is perceived as a direction or path or mental time sequence to follow, and all roads lead to the only place there is, regardless of the direction one perceives they are taking along the multiplex of circular pathways. - restate what you just said.) - yes.

My other question relates to "intuitive understanding". I seemingly 'know' things that I've received through intuition. This 'knowing' is limited by my own level of awareness. People sometimes come to the erroneous conclusion that I'm enlightened because I seem to know. Of course, it's clear to me that I don't see reality at all. Now I'm getting the impression that the difference is the difference between seeing partially, which is no seeing at all, and seeing wholly, which is the only way reality can be seen. Does that sound right?
Well said. The same situation applies to me as well. I "am" enlightened, and I do have continual access to what I am (as we all do whether we notice or acknowledge it or not), but being "enlightened" is not seeing wholly. Intuition seems a word that fits pretty evenly.

I have a garden, myself, with a series of waterfalls and creeks running through it and it's my favorite place on Earth.
Maybe I'll get to see it someday...sounds wonderful. I've never had anything like that, but have lived in the country (West Virginia) with a stream running through my yard, and also had an apartment (Connecticut) with the sound of three waterfalls heard constantly (but just out of view because of another building between ours and that part of the river narrows where the falls were.
