Hi! I manage a mailing list with 1300 subscribers (I use Macjordomo in combination with SIMS). I sent a message out on the list on Saturday and since then I've received a complaint from one of the subscribers that she's received the message 15 times since then. I've eliminated Macjordomo as the culprit, because if it was sending the message over and over again, it would send to the entire 1300, not just one person. According to the Macjordomo people, this isn't something Macjordomo is even capable of doing and "Usually this kind of error is dependent of SMTP server malfunctions."
So I've turned my attention to the mailserver. There's no record in the logs that this message was sent to this person more than just the first time on Saturday. Is it possible for messages to be sent without leaving a log record? If SIMS was sending to her over and over again wouldn't it at least be in the queue? Is this behavior something that SIMS is even capable of? If the mailing list isn't telling SIMS to keep sending the message, how would it know to keep sending it, especially if there's no failure each time. I want to rule out anything that could be coming from my end before I write back to her, but I'm pretty sure this problem isn't me. Any information anybody has on the subject would be greatly appreciated!!
