I'm shocked that you have that many and expect that it is probably a 
bit of a strain for SIMS, or more likely for the MacOS.

The most I've worked with on a SIMS box was about 1200, and that was 
a problem because the user directory was flat and the disk was plain 
HFS. My personal server on a Performa 575 has under 50 accounts and 
those mostly feed gadgetry, not users.
