I am using SIMS under OS X's Classic environment and get a
freeze every few weeks. I could need some assistence to resolve
this.

My server machine is a PM 8600, upgraded with a 450 MHz G3
from Sonnet, running OS X Server 10.1.4

The Classic environment is OS 9.1, running SIMS and NonSequitur
(I tried to switch to OS X's BIND, but can't get it to work).

Now, after a while the Classic environment freezes: When I
try to switch to any of the Classic apps using the OS X Dock,
I see a blank classic menu bar instead of the classic app's
menu bar. Classic is unresponsive, even trying to shut it
down normally using X's "Classic" prefs panel, does not work.
I have to force-shutdown Classic then to resolve this freeze.

Has anyone an idea what could be causing this?

Additional question: I was wondering if the problem could be
caused by OS 9.1, and if updating to OS 9.2.1 would help. But
I can not update, because:
(a) all OS 9.2.x updaters refuse to run at all when booted from
a CD or when launched from a pure OS 9.1 (not from within OS X),
because the installer says that OS 9.2 does not support this old
machine.
(b) when I try to run the installer from within X's classic
environment, it launches, but it then fails to start the update
because it says it can not quit all apps it wants to.

I believe, however, that I've read that people suggested to
do an update to 9.2 once they've installed OS X on their legacy
Macs using XPostFacto (as I did). Does anyone know how to
accomplish the update for the Classic environment?
I had already searched some web site, but had no luck finding
anything.
