VopMail is a mail server package written by Vircom. It runs on a
Windows system, and the particular version we have is their
"VopMail AntiSpam", which is designed to operate as a spam
filtering mail-exchanger in front of other mail servers.

Yep. Thats precisely whats happening. The VopMail box acts as the primary
MX for the mail server in question, therefor, ALL messages that pass thru
it, look like they originate from the VopMail box as far as SIMS is
concerned, hence the "address harvesting" and Open Relay indication, even
tho the actual originating server of the wrong addresses is well outside our
network.
If I remove the VopMail servers IP from the Client IP list, everything works
ok, but eventually, it gets blacklisted for "suspected address harvesting"
Vircom has gone over the configuration with me, and al looks right. I do
have a different mail server running Post.Office from Software.com that we
do not encounter any issues with.
I guess what I'm wanting to do, is "whitelist" the VopMail server's IP for
delivery of mail to the SIMS server, but NOT allow it to relay thru the SIMS
server.
I realize I'm probably stretching the envelope a bit with what we're trying
to do.....
But, hey....Someone has to do it. :)
