If the customer is inside the private network, there is no problem. However, in this particular case, both servers are available at separate public IPs. But it looks like the AMS server is not listening on port 25, which is the real problem.

This is a guess on my part, but I assume that AMS is either the Apple Mail Server that comes with OS X or it is AIMS, which later became EIMS.
