Why not add authentication to your custom software. Plain SMTP AUTH is not that difficult. This is not going to get easier. Everything is headed towards more authentication, not less.

Verizon in my area requires SMTP Authentication for all outbound email.


So that puts me back to the same state I am in with my SIMS server,
requiring a method of authentication that my email client, nor any of my
custom email software, supports.



Most likely, I will end up just using my own software to add SMTP
Authentication to my email clients... I was just trying to avoid that if
there was a nice solution already available in SIMS.
